Estate Planning Strategies Using Irrevocable Trusts WEBCAST
Overview
With 2026 just around the corner, one of our clients’ top concerns is the possible reduction of the $13.61 million transfer tax exclusion to a lower amount. Many advisers are turning to irrevocable trusts to take advantage of the currently high exclusion and freeze their estates. This course will analyze the advantages and disadvantages of using a wide variety of noncharitable trusts, such as spousal lifetime access trusts (SLATs), grantor retained interest trusts (GRATs and GRUTs), qualified personal residence trusts (QPRTs), life insurance trusts (ILITs), domestic asset protection trusts (DAPTs), dynasty trusts, and retirement trusts.

Randy Gardner, JD, LLM, MBA, CPA, CFP ® is a professor of Tax and Financial Planning and director of the Certificate in Financial Planning program at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. He is a coauthor of several books on tax issues and is also a highly rated discussion leader. In addition to teaching, Mr. Gardner works as a tax and financial planning consultant for several accounting firms and over 200 individual clients. He also serves on the Editorial Board of The Journal of Financial Planning and on the Board of Examiners of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, and he is a member of the Missouri Society of CPAs.
